use of vowels when writing songs

I'm assuming the guy that wrote "Ole MacDonald" had a problem with the "ooo" sound.
 
whereas a word with "p" might sound bad becuase it is a plosive and you will kill the mic everytime you sing it. I doubt you hear many "p" consonants on big chorus "money notes" in pop for this reason.

"Pretty in Pink", "Penny Lane", "Please, Please Me", "Pop Muzik", "Pretty Woman", "Power of Love", "Purple Rain"..... I mean, I could go on. :D
 
A plosive only "kills a mic" if you don't know basic mic technique. There are millions of plosives in millions of songs and I've never read about a tragic mic death because of it in the history of music.
