I am moving into a new studio space, 17ft X 18.5 Ft. 3 windows on 17 ft wall, and french door closet and entrance door on opposite 17 ft wall. I'm not sure if I should have the studio desk face the wall (18.5 ft side, or, instead have desk face into room. Any help is appreciated.

"Universal starting point" in this case would be your head at 7' (7.03 actually - .38 of 18.5) from and facing the 17' wall.
Working backwards from there, you can make a 5' equilateral triangle from your head (the mix position) to your speakers (as you're not going to want them against the wall).
This of course doesn't take into consideration any broadband trapping and what not...
