Question Studio Wood Flooring: Bamboo or Timber?

    Hey folks,

I'm acoustically treating a room for tracking. I'm gonna start by removing the carpet and installing a wood floor. There are so many types of woods to choose from, I'm confused. I've considered Bamboo, because it's inexpensive. But I can't find any acoustic research concerning this flooring type. So here's the question...

Acoustically, is Bamboo inferior to Oaks, Maples and other such timbers? If not Bamboo, what other flooring do you recommend?

Any answers would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Up and coming.........

for the purpose of a live floor/dead ceiling approach - wood is wood.......

Any wood - once finished - is going to give a reflective surface........

Part of that is the wood itself - the other 1/2 is the finish.

You can take a relatively soft wood and brighten it by adding additional layers of urethan finish.

Bamboo is like a lot of the hardwoods in that it is very dense - which is why it lives up to traffic as a flooring product.- the finish need only meet your visual desires.

So if you want to use bamboo - use bamboo.........

Studio Wood Flooring: Bamboo or Timber?

Thanks, Rod Gervais. I guess it's bamboo for me. Here's on last question:

Would you recommend "packing blankets," studio foam, or fiberglass 703 for wall treatments?

    Thanks

    Go with 703.
