Recording space plus Mixing/Control room question.

Hi, everybody. I'm starting to convert part of my house into a better recording space.

Our living room is 19' 6'' (L) x 12' (W) x 9' (H). It has a varnished Pitch-Pine floor. I think these are great dimensions; it would make an awesome recording space. It also has a small extension behind it with a large double-glazed window connecting the two. The extension has a slightly sloping roof. It would make an awesome mixing/control room.

My question is:

Why doesn't my wife see it the same way?

That does indeed sound like an ideal space. Maybe you could convert your current recording space into living quarters for your wife? Nice TV, pink drapes, whatever it takes!
