Well, what do you hope to accomplish with your studio?
Is it just for your own enjoyment, or will others be recording there too?
What level of quality do you hope to achieve in your recordings?
Commericial quality, or demo quality?
Do you have a budget for additional gear? What is that budget?

Aside from all that, the first thing I would recommend is to get a pair of small diameter condensor mics. This will allow you to do some stereo recording of your acoustic instruments.

Budgetary concerns will dictate which mics you can afford, but for SD condensors I like the Shure SM81's at around $300 each.

You could also look into the Octava MC012's at around $150 each.

Or if money's no object and you're willing to throw all caution to the wind, then I'd look into a matched pair of the Neumann KM184's at around $1000 for the pair.

Looks like you've got a great set-up and certianly something you can build on for the future.

Thanks for sharing your pics!

Really cool photos of your setup here Leeking!

Agree with Michael on the SD condensors. They're the next logical step in the pirsuit of your homerecording dream! :d

(And we want to hear how your piano sounds too!)

cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys....

I'll look into those SD mics.... also thinking of a SP B3...

KB, hope to see your pics oneday.... :)

Updates!

Some updates on my studio...

I have since added some new tools...

Did some re-layout....

Wonder if this is good enough for John Sayer's site?? ;)

i'd definately look into getting a pair of Oktava Mc012's which right now can be had for 100 dollars a pair at guitar center.

ver nice

Thanks for the nice words guys.

longsoughtfor, thanks for some of your advice while I was deciding on the studiomix. I think it's really great.... an extra plus is that it has dual input voltage, so I had no problem getting it to run with 220V here. :) great product for this ridiculous price! :)

I still have some acoustic foams lying around. Will post some pics once I get them on the walls.....
