My Bedroom Setup

I set this up to transfer my old 4-track reel to reel tapes to
digital. Mostly stuff that wasn't being used in my main studio
anymore. Found the 6' tall rack on it's way to the dumpster
at work. Even scrounged the rack ears I put on the old Teac
at work. Second pic is the main studio control room.

Wow -- resurrection of an ancient thread! :D :D

Since I first started this thread, my setup has changed quite a bit ... and next year I'll build a commercial facility in the DC area.

sound proof room

Track Rat said:
Well, I'm not a drummer (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night :D ). My sound room is pretty tight though. I built a room within a room. The inside framing is isolated from the existing structure so as not to telegraph sound inside to the outside. Plus double layers of drywall and caulking all the joints (and smoking a few) help. I can do drums here in the middle of the night without bothering the neighbors.

Sorry for bothering you, but how much does it cost to build a room like that within a room and furthermore where could I find someone to do it? It seems amazing to me.

these are the latest pictures i have

since then we have moved and i am slowly rebuilding my setup and adding to it :) i feel kinda stooped compared to some of those other setups but i am happy.

i will post updated pics when my lcd arrives and i tidy up a little

I'm not sure what the going rate for construction materials or contractor costs. I did all the construction and such myself about 10 years ago. I think I had about $1000 in it at the time. Any carpenter could build such a structure for you (if you do the homework and can tell him what you need as far as specs go). Spend some time reading at John Sayers site.

I got a lot done but still have a long way to go.

Hey guys it's been awhile since i've been on this forum.

I have lots of fun in this room. No neighbors have complained nor have they commented. Just the way I wanted. Hahaha.

I got this new camera so my pictures are not as grainy. Hope you like!

The rack and monitors are reversed for working in the tracking station going DI. Soon, we add a couple channels of class A preamp, and we're done for now. Then I'll do closeups of the rack.-Richie

I love cozy studios with self-cleaning life forms to keep you company.
