I know most of you probably hate rap/hip hop, but I'll post anyways. These lyrics were wrote not that long ago, featuring artist BillyBo. They were written with the deepest concern for the streets we live in... PS. I HATE the chorus... so the chorus was actually trashed, but I posted it up n e ways..

Ay Yo, I digged deep down within' my chest/
to realize if there's any fight left for me to hold on/
I once strong when the truth was told/
now this chapter that remains in my life, is so cold/
i'm doing god's work, forty 5's with the sweep/
25 degree's deep within' the belly of the beast/
who would thought, that these days I would smile again/
I'm catching feelings and my whole heart is starting 2 mend/
ladies and gents'... we going for it hundred percent!/
this the product of my youth trying to make it's last stance/
I've only seen the toughest and I fought along the greatest/
my whole life spent fighting a war against satan/
never would I have thought this life could be so hard/
falling apart, half these years I'm staring at stars/
things have change, and now I'm living a turn for the better/
and together, me and you, we can both change the weather forever/

<chorus>

I walk this earth buried in my own mixed emotions/
set sail my young homies, take back the life we holdin'/
we got all the power & the grace that will make us great/
so why we standing all here? we got to go out and take/
put our meal on a silver plate with a house on the lake/
we got to do it today before it gets to late/
we control our own live's, so the live's we make/
will be the visons' of our futures, and our future starts today/

<Verse 2>

I call these new days coming a bless from heaven/
kept me going through these years and so I look back/
to the split second in time when my life was getting hetic/
by my choices I've made, but I'll never regret it/
I can really see happiness is almost here/
I can feel it coming dug deep within' all my tears/
sometimes I'll remenise through these pictures I took/
in this book, questioning myself how this family was shooked/
robbed blindly of the good life that I've always wanted/
now I'm working hard for it until I've got it/
Today I've seen smiles on my face/
so I pick up the pace I got a taste, and it's never to late/
I'mma do what it takes, like the world is my stage/
hey dreams never come, you got to go out and take/
turn the page, and read how I made it through life's maze/
you better grasp on to it and don't let it escape homie/

<Chorus>

<Billy Bo>
get your face out the mud
this life has more to offer than a chase for the drugs /
build a basis of love,i'm a statement for the Blood/
let it rain down from the heaven's above God's Son is enough/
i'm saved by grace, not through what i've done/
i'll keep my faith when push comes to shove/
throw a stone, throw a brick, yo, i'm not givin in/
to the way of this world and a life full of sin/
dont get me wrong, i'm not claimin i'm a saint/
but the way to see tomorrow's thru the picture that i paint/
slip the Truth in the track, you got no excuses/
now you've heard the good news, to fight it is useless/
the seed has been planted now it's time for you to grow/
break out of the shell and let the whole world know/
i'm a window for the Light, you can see it if you'd like/
the way to eternal life is thru Jesus the Christ/

<chorus>

<K-Lord extras>
how could this pain could stop in the moment of one breath/
but the truth is, no man's life is harder then the next/
I got a lot running in my mind and everything's fine/
but if I told you that, then I'm telling a lie/
spill the beans, and tell you what's rough in my life/
for one these cops want to see me in cuff's tonight/
and sometimes I feel I've lived long enough to die/
If I could see my son once, I'll put my life on the line/
but the future's looking dim, and the walls are closing in/
I'm about to loose all hope, where was this going again?/
see-saw back and forth, like in the hood, we smile/
the next day is grim, the stench in the air is foul/
it's been a long while, but now my head's up in the clouds/
speak the truth and we'll do good in large amounts/
support our peoples, keep the peace, and embrace for the day/
we all meet at the gates with open arms and that, we shall pray/
(god is great)

I'm not a fan of rap, but the lyrics are good. What don't you like about the chorus?

There are a couple of words I'd re-evaluate. Like shooked. Couldn't you just use "shook" instead?

It's good and inspirational. There's a good message there. Good luck with it!

hey I'm a Dallas citizen too! (actually arlington)... maybe I can record you at the studio sometime (Media Tech Insitute/Dallas Sound Labs).

My budget is really tight. Thanks for the offer, though. If I get the cash to get in a studio I know where to go!

Right now I just do all my recording on my computer.

Do you have a band setup? or just solo? Well during the whole school year, I am required to record something at least once a month or so for projects. So I usually bring in some of my artists, but I'll like to bring in fresh faces. Maybe I'll hit you up if I need to record someone else. It would be for free :D

Right now it's just me. I decided recently to change my album to all acoustic. It's going to be a country album.

Would this be one or two songs, or a whole album? How would that work? I'm just curious.

Why do you have to record something at least once a month? Is it a class you're taking in school?

It would be like a song. I mean, it could be an album if I had the time to record an album but usually I come once a week to record at least a song to keep my skills in shape. http://www.mediatechinstitute.com/ there's 6 full fledge studios in there, and I'm taking the recording arts degree mainly to learn whatever I don't know, and to get that piece of paper at the end of the year. We required to record at least one project per month because our teacher wants us to know what we are doing in the studio. The maximum hours a student can book by himself is only 3 hours, but another student usually books along with me for another extra 3 hours. Last Sunday I spent 14 hours in the studio g. It's a pretty nice school. For here anyways. Kinda like Full Sail but not quite as large. Big names have come through here and recorded. I met AKG, Yamaha & OpenLab's presidents like last month, who came to drop something off for my teacher (he's REALLY talented & VERY smart.. it's kind of scary). Anyways. Usually I'll just come in on whatever day I book a session, go check out whatever mic's & equipment I want to use that day, head to the studio, set everything up, make sure everything is ready for recording & mixing, and then I'll start tracking. Usually I would mix the stuff down on a later date, or take it home & mix it down. The studio I would pick to track or mix in would depend on the music itself. Studio A has the SSL console & various outboard gear etc. Studio D has a NEVE console, Studio G has a DM2000, Studio E has a Sony digital mixer but I can't remember what it is, Studio C is the music & film production center. All the studios have a lot of outboard gear & run either the HD systems or TDM systems. Studio E & C also runs Nuendo 3. Each studio has it's own unique sound.

Sounds like you got some cool toys to play with! Sounds like you're having a lot of fun with it and learning a lot!

I'll keep you in mind if I need anything like that.
