weird noises...why?

when i am monitoring or recording i get a weird highfrequency pitch that sort of swirls around. i can sort of eq it out, but i dont want to lose control of the equalizer.

also, i think i once picked up radio or a cordless phone or something...there was an audible voice.

it seems to only occur when my mic is in use.

setup is cheap apex condenser -> yamaha board -> delta 44

any ideas?
 
Inexpensive mics often come with cheap cables ( not well shielded.) A better cable would be the first thing I would consider. You might also be picking up some electrical interference from the wireing in the room, move the mic to different locations and see if it gets better or worse.
