Viable NTK Replacement?

Hi folks

I've had a Rode NTK and it's a good mic for vocals. Example of my voice on the NTK here:

However, I'm looking for something that:

  • I can start to use immediately, no 10 minute warm-up time for the tubes
  • Doesn't come with a huge brick power supply
  • Has the same or better room rejection - my room isn't that great although I have some rockwool panels on order and an Aston Hailo

Considering

  • AEA N22
  • AKG 414
  • Mojave Audio MA-201

Would appreciate some ideas of what to look at in the £300-£1K ish range that might suite my voice.

man...Al Schmidt even likes the NTK...
My son likes the AKG414 not sure which one.

Trying some strange and new is always fun though. You could go in deeper and try the Rode Classic's?

N22 -brand new to me and not enough time on it for opinions.. I love fig-8's especially for the side isolations. The rear lobe.. I find the back bleed can be ok given decent distance to other things in the room, or, good trapping around the rear..

Nice thing about multi-pattern LDC is the options to pick.. which when where'.

The Rode NT1000 is a transistor version of a NTK with 1 pattern (I love these things) and the NT2000 is basically the multi pattern version on the NT1000.

Alan.
