Using Boundary Mics for a Podcast

Fairly new to recording, and here's what I'm stuck with-
I record a podcast that has 8 people around a table. I have 2 h4n's to capture the audio, a mixer, and generally a slew of mics.
Our normal setup includes one h4n dedicated (as mic and recording device) to the host, while the other mics (one for each guest) feed through the mixer into the other h4n.

However this week our rental place was booked out and we are stuck with a small mixer with only 4 inputs, 3 shotgun mics, and a set of 6 boundary mics.
From what I've read, the boundary mics need to be placed on tables/walls/etc, but we are playing board games, and there is a lot of table noise, will this kill the boundary's abilities?
Also, in the past I've learned that multiple omnidirectional mics (which I instantly associate with boundary mics) results in more room noise and affects the quality of the recording.

Any suggestions/tips for making the best of this?
Much appreciated.
