Sweeping EQ ...

I have a basic knowledge of what an EQ does and how to use it, but I keep reading about "sweeping" a freq range. When and Why would I sweep? Also how? Do all EQ's have this ability? Thanks!

Also, is there, perhaps, a website out there with a graph or chart that shows which freq's certain instruments inhabit? ie: guitars, drums, bass...? Thanks again.

Did a little digging on the MB and found the charts (I love this MB!).
But would still like to know about that sweeping thingy. : )

:D SWeeping= sweepable EQ.
A sweepable EQ is one that you can dial in the frequency to adjust up or down. The Allen-Heath mixer, model 2200GL has two EQ points that can be sweeped.
The first knob increases/deccreases the freq, the 2nd knob adjusts the frequency lets say from 40hz-2khz, on the next pair the sweep would be lets say from 400hz-12khz. this is called a semi-parametric EQ.
This type of EQ is more practical and flexable than just a 3 point EQ. A 3 point might be like a knob that does just bass=100hz, another one does 1khz, the 3rd does 10khz.
I hope this helps,
