    pre-amp for ribbon mic

    i am getting a mxl r40 ribbon mic
    i am in need of a pre-amp
    i can only spend 300 and below
    is there any suggestions?
    i was thinking about the golden age project pre-73?

    i would go for it. ive heard very good things about the gap 73. and have not heard anything bad about it.

    Do it. Gap has tons of gain, and can do clean or colored. It is a nice match with ribbon mics.

    I run a Fat Head through it all the time and it's great for guitar cabs, harmonica, banjo, acoustic guitars, and I'm sure several other sources.
