an old Fostex R-8 Sync to PC?

Being the poorman that I am, I'm looking for the CHEAPEST way to record at least 6 tracks at once. I've got about 200 bucks, which doesn't buy squat for a sound card, but I've got access to an old Fostex R-8 analog 8 track reel recorder (with no manual). Does anyone know of a way to sync it up to the PC (I'm using CW Pro Audio 9) to bring the tracks in once they're recorded? (or even just use CWPA9 as the controller?)

The only way i can think of doing it is via SMPTE. I dont think the R8 recognises MTC. if it does, you have no problems. otherwise, SMPTE is the only way of syncing it up..i think.not sure about the spec of the unit.
