Multitrack Recorders (Stand Alone)

boom box recordings
I currently have a PC DAW and have an RME Multiface II. I was thinking of getting one of these Boss BR-900 thingies for the following reasons.

1. To have a seperate digital recorder to mix down to (to do analog summing).

2. To record live events using two condenser mics in stereo.

My question is how is the quality of AD converstion in one of these BR Gadgets in comparison to my RME converters?

I have experience working with one of those BOSS machines...

It's a computer that limits you to only using BOSS software where you have to scroll through a bunch of commands to get to another command. (No mouse, keyboard -it's like your back in the 80's).

I guess if you get one of the cheaper ones, it might be worth it just as a digital recorder. Other than that - why not get a laptop, mixer and a program like Cakewalk?
