line level matching

In my studio, I have 4 seperate quarter inch, balanced ( stereo), tie lines running parallel throughout all rooms. These work great for sending headphone monitor mixes etc. Each room has a 4 input panel ( 1/4 inch balanced ) and all rooms are tied together in parallel. When I plug a guitar into the panel in lets say room A and bring it back out in Room B, and then into the amplifier in room B there is a significant change in the signal, ( lower volume and less bright ). I would like to match the signal so it is as if I just plugged directly into the guitar amp.

I have tried the following with no success.

1. balanced cable out of panel in room B into amp
2. regular shielded guitar cable out of panel in room B into amp
3. balanced cable out of panel in room B, into direct box , out of direct box
XLR into amp using high to low matching transformmer
4. same as above except using regular shielded guitar cable

Any suggestions on how to make this work would be appreciated

This isn't gonna be easy:
- Guitar signal is high impendance, none balanced, mono 1/4" cable.
- The cable through the wall is meant for low impendance, balanced, XLR signal.
Your gonna have to change all of those aspects at both ends of the cable. Meaning a DI box at the input of the wall cable, to turn the high imp, none bal 1/4" cable into the the balanced signal. Then a "reamp" box (a DI box in reverse, not every DI box can be used this way!) to turn the low imp, balanced signal back into a high imp, none balanced signal for the amp. a LOT of work and money.

You could just make a cable that has a female 1/4" jack on one side and an XLR plug on the other, not using 1 wire of the XLR. Same at the other side, and then use regular guitar cables to connect everything. This way, you won't be using a balanced signal, so if the cable is long, your gonna get noise problems.

thank you..... that makes a lot of sense I have the regular high to low impecance direct box... what kind of "reamp" box would you suggest
