I have a really basic question regarding the best way to insert a compression in the signal chain, o minimize noise and allow greater flexibility. My setup is as follows:
Various racks, Drum machine...connected to Mackie 1202. Mackie's main outs go into the VS1824.
My goal is to be able to compress either before or after recording (which is not possible to achieve if the compressor is between the mackie and the vs). Also I have tried to connect the compressor to effects send and return of the vs. The problem is that when I apply the compression, I get a phasing effect, due to the fact that both the natural and compressed signal play at the same time.
Any suggestions are welcome.
