Headphone static

What is the best way to eliminate headphone mic static? Whenever I try to record it's always buzzing in the background.

Is the buzz in the recorded track or just while you're monitoring during recording, then absent when you listen to what's been captured?

Maybe describe what your recording setup is, for starters.

Static? As in little cracks, clicks and pops, or buzzes and hums? When you say headphone mic, do you mean headsets? Keith is trying to find out if it's the mic that is the problem,or the headphones.
