getting 1940's to 1950's retro sound

Hi there. I recently became into he late 1940's to early 1950's recordings and wanted to make something similar as an intro or interlude in one of my songs. I mainly do electronic pop rock but want to include bits and pieces of these retro interludes in my songs for effect.

Does anyone know what sorts of EQ settings I should apply to the recording to obtain that old school phonograph/transistor radio sound?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link, Harvey!

I've been thinking about this a little, too, since I heard the new Raphael Saadiq album. It's nice to see "new" artists (new in quotes because Raphael's been around a while) going after the classic "Motown" sound. I think it went a little far on "The Way I See It" - portions are almost painfully thin sounding - but the effect is an amazing time warp. The best I can figure how to replicate the sound is to mix the music a little lower vs. the vocals and cut the whole bottom end out of everything!
