E MU1212 Audacity Windows XP can't record higher than 16 bit

recently I found out from Audacity forum that I've been recording at 16 bit not 24
2 reasons mainly that Audacity doesn't support ASIO and XP doesn't support WASAPI.
I wanted to check here for your thoughts or if anyone has found A way around this.
The Audacity group say I have to change OS.Your thoughts or ideas on how YOU would
handle this is appreciated !

I don't know what hardware you're running XP on, but it's probably time to move along.

What options are you open to? A new computer? A new OS? A different DAW?

It's pretty clear that if you want 24-bit Audacity, you need a different OS, i.e., so do what they tell you. Otherwise, learn to live with 16-bit. (Or request the source code and see if you can modify it to your needs. it is open source, after all.)
