Clicks and high latency when recording guitar through Steinberg UR22

First of all: I hope I'm posting this the right way, I'm new to the forum.
I want to record some stuff with my guitar but so far I haven't been happy with the results. I'm going straight into my Steinberg UR22 interface. I've tried to reduce the latency in my DAW but even at its' minimum there's quite a significant delay. I've tried to work around it by listening mainly to the direct output of the interface when recording but also in every single thing I've recorded there are clicks every now and then, which is really driving me crazy. By the way: I'm using the driver provided by Steinberg and I'm recording on a Dell XPS L502X (i72630QM 2GHz CPU; 6GB RAM). I'd really appreciate your help/advice! Thank you!

You should be monitoring through the headphone interface on the UR22. That way latency will not be an issue. I do not know what operating system you are on, but I had the same problems when I first connected my UR22 to my laptop (similar configuration to yours). I run windows 7. By following the tips in the link below, I no longer have clicks and pops.

Hope this helps,
