Bringing it forward, pushing it back

Bring Back Transfat!
I'm trying to give a lead guitar part kind of a haunted, not-sure-where-it's-coming-from feel amid a "front row" of bass and drums. I might even pan it slowly L to R, but how do I stuff it "way back" in the mix?

Use a volume envelope and highlight the part you want to bring to the back of the mix. Just drop it down a couple decibles.

lots of reverb...cut some highs... lower the volume...limit it before you do all of it to catch those pesky transients.

or... eq verb eq phaser eq limiter eq :) I Like eq. hahaha and I don't know....I kind of like the sound of a reverb going on before limiting... it sounds demented,

Reverb, low volume

And shake it side to side................yeah

Record the solo in two or three chunks, pan hard left and right, and ride the faders....
