Analog recording with a vintage Teac Reel to Reel from a internet streaming source.

I an not sure if this a good idea or not but I am sure I am not the first guy to ask or try this. Anyway my question I have record having my laptop connected to my audio system and patched directly to my Teac A 7010 Reel to Reel deck. I want to record music from Amazon unlimited and Deezer high def streaming services. I am able to record no problem except the quality is really not worth it compared to recording from CD. I get alot of vocal hiss kind of like a lisp where as on CD I don't. I went with Deezer High Definition for obvious reasons thinking that the low KBPS from Amazon (256) vs (1411) from Deezer would solve the issue. Well, not so much. Can someone shed some light and thought on this and any ideas that may work?

Thanks you

How are you getting the audio from the computer to the tape deck...is there an audio interface, and what type of connections are you using?

I am getting the audio from the headphone jack to the tape monitor input jack. The cables I am using are a 3.5MM from the laptop to RCA jacks left and right.

That could be your problem. You could record a stream directly onto a DAW track inside a PC by using the "Stereo Mix" function in Windows Sounds but if on W10 I think that facility has been stopped or at least "hidden"?

Obviously a USB interface will solve the feed to tape issue and if you did not want to go nuts on a $100 jobby the Behringer UCA202/222 is more than good enough for tape dubbing.

Dave.
