ive been looking for a reel to reel so when i saw a fostex e16 on ebay for $500 i had to get it. so NOW I NEED AN ANALOG RECORDING MIXER and i have some questions.
i need to record a live drum set(6 mics), a guitar, a bass, and a few analog synths and drum machines. my band is somewhat improvisational so everything must be recorded live/simultaneously.
what do i need?
do i need a grandiose mixer w/ 16 bus? or does a 16 channel mixer w/ 4 bus work, and if so, would that make the extra tracks on the recorder superfluous? should i downsize to an eight track recorder w/ an 8 bus mixer?does headroom apply to how many tracks i have on my recorder or just to how many tracks i record onto the tape? all this said, does anyone have a recommendation for an appropriate mixer? let me know cuz im eager to get our ep finished.
thanks
