Acoustic Shield

Do you guys use an acoustic shield on your mic stands for vocals? If you have a treated room do you still use it?

A lot of people use "portable vocal booth" type products or DIY equivalents. But even though my company sells such a product, it's not really needed if the room is treated properly. They're useful mostly for people who for whatever reason can't treat their room, or have access only to a space that's too large to treat fully.

I use an acoustic shield, more accurately called an "ambient filter." The room I record in is rather noisy.

Yep.
I work out of a single room so I use the SE Electronics reflexion filter to minimise the chance of the hum from my outboard gear or any accidental rustling I make when the singer is tracking finding its way into the mic.
The room has some treatment - of course - with a natural diffusion surface directly behind the singer (shelving stacked with records, CDs, software boxes and the like) to help scatter reflections.
Works well!
