will different speaker cabs affect sound?

im gettin 2 seperate 2 x 12 cabs

im gonna get 2 so i can run them in stereo, one on each side of the stage of course, but i have a couple questions.

how will this affect the sound of my distortion running stereo?

and if i get to different boxes both closed in back, will it effect tone much?

and how much do 2 x 12 empty cabs go for about,

sorry for all the questions but im a newbie and i wanna learn all i can, (gotta start out somewere)
 
they'll certainly affect your sound.

If you're using a mono distortion pedal, then you won't hear much difference .. it'll just be the same sound on both speakers.

If you are using a stereo fx processor and put your left chanel for example through a compressor and the right through a stereo chorus .. then your sound will be completely different.

The question is ... Are you living in a mono or stereo gear world?

Are these cabs gonna be on a PA system or are they part of your amp rig?

go to the music store and try out different cabs.

tell em your serious about purchasing and they'll let you crank it.
