already a bit confused. I know I need hardware to run the software (003, M-Box). What then is an 888, 882, etc? I have access to an 888 and I thought this was going to be my interface.

Probably a dumb question but this is newbie talk, right?

Taken from the digidesign website: "The 888|24 I/O is an audio interface used with Pro Tools (requires PT 4.1 or later). It connects to any of the following cards: PT Project PCI, Disk I/O PCI, d24 Audio Card, Mix Core, Mix Farm. The 888|24 I/O may also be connected to the legacy port of a 192 I/O on a Pro Tools HD system."

So you need a core card, and they're all pretty expensive. That's one of the things I hate about Pro Tools/Digidesign.
