transforming home project studio into a home recording studio

Hi guys,

I have a home studio which I use for my own electronic music. I would like to convert it onto doing some basic recording .

Main equipment is

allen heath zed 428
crest xr20
genelec 1029+7050 sub
mac mini server i7 2.0 quad with logic 9
echo audiofire 12 + maudio fw410
drawmer 1961 valve eq
hhb radius 20 valve eq
modified alesis 3060 compressor
focusrite compounder compressor
lexicon mx400
behringer v-verb
behringer b2 pro condenser

I am looking at getting rid of the 428 and getting a second crest xr20 to link together via the sub inputs and solo link . Does this sound like a good idea or is 2 mixers to hard to work with ?

Also as you can see I have basically no recording equipment , just 1 mic . What is a good way to start off ? Mic packs? Ive seen a few with 5-7 mics , cables and stands . Would some other outboard be needed , perhaps a specialty mic pre or should I just use the mixer pre's and stick to ITB processing?

your thoughts are appreciated
