track/plugin question

Alright. Say I record the entire rhythm guitar part for a song on one track in one take. If I want to pan the verse in a different direction than the chorus do I have to move the chorus to a new track and pan both tracks accordingly, or is there a way to keep just the one track but have the panning change? Same thing for effects. What if I want to reverb the intro and not the rest of the song. Do I have to move the intro to a new track and reverb that track? Or is there a way I can just split the audio file in that track and just reverb the intro block? I hope there's a way because that will save me a ton of tracks. Thanks.

Well, tell us what software you're using for a specific answer.

Generally, there will be a way to display pan (or any other parameter) as a line running the length of your waveform.

Usually you can draw and drag points to 'pan as you go'.
It's called automation.

If you have a midi controller or control surface, you can dial in automation in real time, rather than drawing it with a mouse.

By default, Protools lets me automate volume, pan, mute and solo.
I can tell it to add any other plugin parameters to that list.

That should cover it. :)

See how from about 1:00 onwards, the line across the waveform correlates to the adjustments in eq high shelf?
