Last post got et,
I am a newbie
My tascam 38 was slowing and it took me a long time to figure out the sticky shed tape issue after I replaced the logic board.
Now my old recorded tapes are very fuzzy, Anybody have some great ideas how to bake them so that I can transfer the data to a mx2424 for preservation/overdub?
What is the best way to record bass guit on an tascam 38 trr 8? What is good affordable 1/2 tape that doesnt degrade?
Another issue: when I am playing back after cleaning heads I see that trak 7 and 8 have materil on them in the vu meter but now sound emanates from them thanks for reading

I think if your meters are showing signal on tracks 7 & 8, but you don't hear anything, you need more cleaning on the heads. A wee bit of gunk can really mess up sound playback.
Or,
You could have some connections not right.
