I have not played around with the NI one, but I think the Akai feels like a stronger build than Alesis. I have the little bro to that Akai and it has been great.

I’ve bought the Native Instruments S61 MK2 and what a keyboard it is. It works flawlessly with Logic Pro X but have heard of a few problems in other DAW’s. The best thing to do is download the manual and take a peek to make sure the keyboard is up to your specifications. The quality of the keyboard is fantastic, I have no gripes there. Your post suggests that you know what you are looking for in terms of sounds being played from the computer and using the keyboard as a controller.
