Hey guys I am a complete newb when it comes to recording. I’ve done some research but I just want to make sure Im understanding everything completely. First off I am not looking to go into anything too pricey. I play guitar, mostly acoustic, and sing and I am just looking to record myself doing that. I know that obviously I’ll need a mic. I will probably go with a condenser mic. I am looking to do these recordings in a single take singing and playing at the same time, then maybe add a few backing vocals. I will be using my lap top so I will probly go with a usb interface. I am also not sure if I will need to buy a preamp or not. I am not trying to create a professional sound but would like decent quality. Also, once the music is recorded how will I edit it on my laptop? Will I need an extra program for that?
If I got the set up below, would I be able to easily upload my music to my laptop, edit the music, and add other tracks to the original? Any suggestions?

"Yes" on the mic. There are soooo many to choose from.
"Not Really" on the interface.
Spend a hundred dollars more and get yourself a good one.

M-Audio, Fast Track Pro.
It has things you'll be glad of later on. (Make sure it says "Pro")
You will also need a pencil mic at some point.
Then, if you get serious, monitors. But not right away.
You don't need an extra preamp at this point.
You will need a DAW to Record and edit your music in......
wait a cotton picking minute...... what research did you do exactly? :laughings:
