Recording from cassette tapes

I have searched all over but have not found the solution to my problem.

I have a bunch of cassette tapes that I would like to record onto CDs. I have hooked up a tape player to my sound imputs but I need some software that will allow me to record the whole side instead of just a minute or 2.

Is there Win 98, setting for media player that I have not been able to find or some other software (free or inexpensive) that you can recommend? I just want to get these family interviews and fun tape stored on better media.

I use Sound Forge 4.5 .

You might be able to find a free download of it at...

http://www.sonicfoundry.com

Or you could definitely find a copy at the second site that F_cksia posted for you (use ver. 5.0).

Be FOREWARNED that the use of THAT site on THIS site is frowned upon, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Using Cool edit, Sound Forge, etc. will enable you to record as long as you would like to record (depending on the size of your hard drive, of course).

Then you could put the songs on your CD in the order that you like :) .

dude,
get a cd burner (it'll come in handy in so many other ways, especially for a musician) and run a tape player to the analog ins.
