Power supply voltages. Lexicon Omega

Hi guys,

Just bought a used Lexicon Omega. Came with a 9VDC 1a power supply. Constant bad hum when I plugged it in. So, I'm doing some inspection and thought i'd try a different power supply. Then I noticed the Omega's power input says 9VAC 1300mA.

So here's the thing.

It powered up and the switches worked.
How could it power up at all with the wrong voltage type?

Is it possible it got smoked?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mike

Hi,
Who supplied a DC adapter with it? I'd be chasing them up if anything's permanently damaged.

If the circuits inside rectify AC then using a DC adapter shouldn't cause any big problem.
If, however, there's a transformer in there, the DC wouldn't pass through and the transformer could be damaged.
You wouldn't see any indication that the interface 'works' if the latter is true.

You say it worked, so I guess the former is applicable and the chances are your interface is fine.
None the less, unplug the DC adapter and do not plug it in again.
Go get yourself a 9VAC adapter and cross your fingers when you plug it in. ;)

I followed you for the first part, but.... :)

?????

Yeah, lol. The opposite of what I said. (It's 2am).
Don't plug in the wrong adapter again, and replace it with an appropriate one. <- Can't lose with that. :p

I've edited my post just to avoid confusing for anyone skim reading.

Plugged in the 9VAC 1300Ma from my Digitech pedal and all the inputs work fine. Thanks for your input guys. Now to go strangle the ebayer who sold it to me. :-)
