I'm almost afraid to ask what drone/doom/noise is, but, ehhhhh, okay... what's drone/doom/noise?? Sounds like it could be the death metal version of avant garde!!!

Heh, it kind of is! Well, not the doom part...
I'm trying to make a kind of noise-tinted drone style. Crushingly slow, extremely detuned guitar (currently using a CIJ Fender Jaguar tuned to G) riffs with washes of psychey noisey bits
As you can imagine, I can't really use many of the more run of the mill guides to home recording, since I'm trying to capture very low-end noise and layers upon layers of overdriven guitar, but I'm sure any ridiculously silly questions I have will be answered here.
