Need a good book or website to teach a noob

HI.

I am very new to this but I love singing (karaoke) and would like to start getting my feet wet and dwell on various aspects like:

a) how to EQ my karaoke system

b) how to use a compressor / limiter / gate / etc

c) how to record my voice

d) how to mix my voice with instruments in a DAW

e) what are the common things you do in a voice recording in DAW?

I tried reading through various forums, websites and such but most often than not, people conflict themselves so I don't really know who to believe.

Due to this, can you recommend me a good website/url or a book that I can read so that it would teach me the basics of the things listed above.

I tried searching in amazon and it gave me "Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio by Mike Senior". Is this a good book to start with? The simpler the explanation, the better. If there's an online version, the better.

Thanks!

FYI, my simple system consist of the following:

1) A&H Zed10fx amp to be replaced by a Presonus SL 16.0.2

2) 2x QSC K10 speakers

3) SM58 mic x 2

4) SM7b Mic (for recording)

5) Focusrite ISA One

6) NI Komplete 6

7) MBP 13" 2010 model with firewire

8) i7 Desktop with Windows8 32GB Ram

9) Tascam DR100MKII (which I will probably sell when my Presonus arrives)

Note: I don't have a studio and will only do this in our living room hence my mics being all dynamic. I can also perhaps do it in our room but I won't be able to bring my mixer. (will only use my NI Komplete interface)
