Minidisc recorder (Sony Walkman) to hardrive

I recently bought a Sony walkman minidisc recorder to record myself playing guitar and singing. It works great, very good and clear sound. Then I run it through Cool Edit and put in some reverb or other effects. My problem, I can only record from the minidisc into the mic in put and not the line in. Everybody says the line in should give better quality sound. What could the problem be? Thanks for the help!

I bet the Line In is not enabled on the sound card -- not for playback, but for recording. It's a bit less than crystal clear how to do this through the Windows Mixer utility that typically is used for this. For specific details, see this article on the Cakewalk website:
