Macbook doesn’t recognize XLR Mic? Please help :(

I bought my first mic and was excited to get it hooked up but it is not working. The Mac doesn’t recognize the mic as an input device, only a output device for some reason.

I’ve only found really old discussions about it and some people say I might need drivers, some say I might not be able to use the USB adapter but I can’t figure out another way to connect the interface to the computer.

Since I’m new the system won’t let me send pics, but I have them uploaded at Imgur dot com/a/XvI00cG

Thank you!

That Peavey device is for output only, which is why it has male XLR connectors. It's meant to provide a reliable output from just about any computer using the default USB Audio Class 2.0 drivers. Sound guys use them so when someone brings a random laptop to a gig for backing tracks (or whatever) they aren't stuck using the headphone connector.

Ooo! Is it a seaside hotel owner in full rant mode?
