Guitar Rig 5 trial recognized in Cubase, but doesn't do anything?

Little puzzled on this one guys.

I got the trial version of GR5 from Native Instruments' website, installed the DLL properly (i think?) and opened cubase. I plugged my electric guitar into my interface, created a new instrument track. When Cubase asks me what type of instrument, I noticed GR5 wasnt a choice, but all my other NI trial VSTis were recognized. So I just chose "no VST instrument", and then under inserts I chose Guitar Rig 5 (it was available here). Guitar Rig 5 opens as normal, and I can select all the presets and modify it and stuff, but the guitar sound coming back to me through my headphones is not only in just the right ear (like its mono?) but it also is unaffected by any changes I make in GR. It's just the standard clean tone of my instrument no matter what I change.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I really should try more things before posting... :spank:

Problem solved guys... had to press the little "monitor" button on the track. This whole recording thing is so humbling....haha
