I am a beginner artist and am looking to get a good recording set up. Right now, I have an at2035 and a guitar with a built in pickup. All I need is a dual channel Preamp, Ive been looking at the Mackie BlackJack Onyx and Presonus Audiobox 2x2 USB. The only requirements are, I can hook up my guitar, my mic, it can connect to my windows PC, and is under 150 bucks. Another thing now, I need a DAW for less then around 150 dollars max preferably under 100 bucks. Whats the best for around these prices for these items?
Thank you!!

Hey,
What you're describing is an audio interface which has preamps in it.
Seems picky, sure, but it'll make your google searching easier. :)

Software wise, take a look at Reaper.
Free to try (full version) - cheap to buy (honour system)

Bang on top of budget but gets a good rep' in the current issue of Sound on Sound. Bundled with Sonar and Ableton. But yes, the Presonus and Studio One have attracted good comments.

Really nothing to chose between interfaces these days, almost anything at the $150 mark is going to be WAY better than the noob's skill level. You would have to stick another nought on the end to get a better specc' and even then I doubt you would hear the diff!

Dave.
