Almost total newbie - trying to connect a digital 8 track to my mac directly

I know a little about recording, but I cannot figure out how to get the setup I want with my current system. The way I've been recording, I'm recording directly into a fostex MR-8 HD digital multi-track, then exporting the individual tracks to my mac, and mixing / eqing / adding effects from there.

Now, I'm not sure if I can even do this, but it would be ideal if I could somehow record to the MR-8 and have the graphical tracks load to my mac garageband setup in real-time. I've seen similar setups, but they've all been through protools and fancier-looking mixing boards. Is there any way I can get the setup I want with the gear I have?

seeing as the fostex is a multi track recorder. the answer is pretty much no on the real time gig. you need an audio interface to record into then that routes to garageband/protools via usb or firewire (firewire prefered)
