I write songs and record guitar & vocal demos at home. Sometimes I record two tracks simultaneously, sometimes I'll do overdubs. These recordings are mostly used to share with others online.
For the last 9 years I have been using the same rig: a Mac Book Pro (firewire) / Logic Express / Apogee Duet (old one with firewire)
I'm ready to totally overhaul this rig and need suggestions on what the best options are in today's market. It's worth noting that I barely scratched the surface logic express and might be totally fine with Garage band or something like that. I no longer need the portability of a laptop and am open to desktop, PC, Mac Mini, etc.
I would also like advice on whether I should just keep my old Apogee Duet (silver one) and get an adapter so that I can continue to use it with a new computer.
