Hi all,

I've got both Garageband and Ableton Live Lite installed on my Mac Mini. As a newbie, which is best to start with, or is best?

Thanks,

Garageband. IMO....it has a shorter learning curve and will get you started quicker.

Check out your local Guitar Center. They host free Home Recording Workshops at 10am on Saturday mornings. They're an Apple VAR so they use Garageband for their platform for the workshops.

Hi,

When I had a similar choice I went with Garageband. It's a good program in its own right, but as BassMan53 said it's pretty simple to learn on, and the general things you learn will be useful if you decide to step up later to something more complex like Logic or Pro Tools. There's a lot of available help and tutorials on it too, either the sort of thing BM53 suggested or printed material, youtube vids etc.

Ableton takes a somewhat different approach and definitely has its fans too, so I would at least give it a go as well, as it might suit you.
