ive read a review stating that a 100MB zip disk will only hold 149 seconds of 8 track, can anyone confim this. Im just about to buy a BR-8 but with a built in Zip drive storing just over 2minutes would i be better off getting a recorder with a hard disk like the Fostex digital 8 track?

Uncompressed, then yes, you'll get 149 seconds. But most digital portas have compression.

The manual for the BR-8 are sure to tell you how much you will be able to record.
    Check with the music store.

    Cool

The BR-8 is the "Hyundai" of digital multi-track recorders. Just so you know.
