hi
seems like folks in this forum provide a lot of good
technical critique/constructive criticism ..here's a link

http://server5.hxcmp3.com/bands/39820/index.php

to an mp3 (128kbs so it's not really "hifi") of a
recording of a band i'm playin in...

we tracked it on an aardvark q10 pro,
did everything live except vocals and a guitar overdub
(i just doubled everything basically)..

akg c451e overhead
d112 on the kick
57 on the snare
pg something or other on the floor tom
d112 on the bass cab
57 on my precious little roland spirit 40 (the overdrive is so good!)
beta 58a for the vox..

all recorded in sonar 5 with a little compression here and there
(mostly on vox and the overhead) otherwise i didn't use too many
effects.. put a "tape sim" boost in at a couple of spots.. tried to
avoid a lot of needless noodling...

in case anybody's wonderin
song's called on shadow shores
band's called ex-experts

whats you think?
thanks!
take care

nobody ..?
any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!
sorry, i know i don't have a lot of um, clout on this board
but i hope folks can take a minute or two to shoot us some
feedback.. maybe this is just abominably bad?
thanks!

Don't listen to much of this style of tune except here (lol)...so I'll just say it sounds prety good to me...

The voice is really clear and sits well on top and within the music...

The drums are well recorded as well, punchy and dry which is preferred for this type of tune. Great drummer.....

Bass Guitar sounds good and punchy lots of bottom end here.

Interesting intro - so quiet - although it fits ok I would have made it a bit louder maybe - just a thought. Kinda louder on the right side too.

This is short and sweet - delivers quickly and effectively.

Cool lyrics too...lots of images.....

Good One......

thanks!

thanks for the feedback, i really appreciate it..

yeah, i realized after we got everything pretty much
mixed down that the intro is rather soft, but i don't
think it's so bad that i'm gonna go back and mess
with the master WAVs at this point! all the songs on
the record have short, muffled, ambient sound clips tying
them together, so i think in the context of everything
else i can get away with substantial shifts in volume/tone..

anyhow, short and sweet is as good a compliment as any
in my opinion; i guess that's pretty much what we're aiming
for!
take care
