I would like to use the mixes as a learning experience. If you do any mixes, can you please describe all the plugins, EQ, compression, etc, settings that were used?

The tracks were originally recorded at 48K 24bit. To post them smaller, however, I had to convert them to 44K 16bit and also .RAR them. Go to winrar.com if you don't have it already to uncompress them.

well...if you want comments on that mix....it sounded ok...the samples at the start where confusing.....

but on a more personal note ..surely this style of american teenage rock has been totally exhausted ...i cannot listen to it .

I have no where to store a 80meg file for download. That's why I had to break them up. If you know of any where to post one file, let me know and I'll do so. All I could find were sites with a 10meg limit per file.
 
I'd love to mix this song, but I can't get your downloads to work. Just zip the wavs into one zip and upload it. I can host it if you can't find somewhere to upload it too.

So, I thought I'd take a chance to mix this many tracks - I usually deal with fewer. I also did this entirely in headphones due to a woefully under-treated room (working on that) and a six-month old baby.

I used some compression on the voices to help them cut. I also used compression on the bass. I split the guitars left and right. I didn't fix the end where they end at different times because I focused on just the mix for this effort (of course a finished product would address this and other things)

I gated the toms (perhaps too severely) and boosted highs and cut lows from the overheads (tried them in both phases and didn't actually hear a pronounced difference so I left them alone. I added some compression to the kick and snare for snap. I also gated the kick some.

I used some multiband compression on vox, band and drums sub-mixes. I also added reverb (short, stereo) at the sub-mix instead of track level (don't usually do this, but I thought I'd try it, and I think it worked alright here)

I did this in Sonar 4 with Sonitus plug-ins.

Not sure my results warrant any more detailed description unless someone is curious. I'd also be happy to hear any feedback from people who undoubtedly have more experience than I at this.

Jay Jay, I listened to yours after I did mine. I like the intro deep echo. I didn't even think to do that. I also like your drum kit clarity more than mine. I think your vocals could've been a little hotter. Mine are probably too hot as I was afraid of undercompensating from mixing in headphones.
