I don't think that's just a patch selection. They're running some sort of square wave sound through a LFO (low frequency oscillator) control that varies an effect on the patch according to the amplitude of the low frequency wave. CW can simulate this with a bunch of control messages to your synth. But this is easier to set up on an analog synth.
