this is a slightly new version
titled "the way the worlds' goin down"...
title subject to change.
LOL

even tho this is just a demo,
i re-mixed everything,
took out a bunch of the harmonies,
added a bass part, tambourine and bongos, just to get a feel for what a 'rhythm section' might do with it...

i may just have to do two versions of this thing,
a slower acoustic version,
and a heavy even slower hard rock version..... kinda like a 'kashmir' groove

here's the link to the first version:

I recently bought a RME babyface pro,
and this little demo is PARTIALLY an experiment in learning the interface, and how good the quality of the capture is.

the demo you are hearing, is a lightly mastered file, that's been dithered down to 16bit/44.1khz...so.....
i experimented with bit rate 32bit and sampling at 96k.
wow.

with the great improvement in convertors over what i had, i can really hear the diff, after using a Maudio Audiophile 192 pcie card for about 8 years.

once i dither everything down to 44.1khz/16 bit, will i still hear the diff?

well, yes, because the depth and quality of the capture still translates down.

the big caveat here,
is that you have to have decent playback system, and decent convertors, to really hear the sound diff,
but if you DO have those things, it's obvious.

so, i have this new rme babyface,
i've read the manual ONCE (LOL)...figured out some basic analog routing,
so far, so good.

this demo, i recorded it at 32 bit, and 96k sample rate, 128 on the buffer, i think i had 2.7ms latency.
not a single glitch.

and all of this, on a 10 year old piece of software (sonar 6 PE) running on a 8 year old pc using win xp.

LOL

color me impressed.

gonna upgrade the pc and the program soon...

XP...I'm impressed. My 8 year old Vista machine just gave up the ghost a couple of months ago, so now I'm in the Windows 10 world.

The heavy version link didn't work for me.

In the other version, it reminded me of that band Extreme but with more noodling. Lol.

I don't know. I guess I don't understand the genre. The recording and mix sounds good, though.

you know, xp has just been rock solid for me from the beginning...
i'd love to just stay on it, but the world moves on, i gotta hop on the train

hm, two links, both acoustic versions,
so i'm not sure what you mean by 'heavy'

this genre would be 'hyper folk'

heheh

I listened to the first one. Sounds great to me, vocals are especially nice. Only thing I didn't like is it was so short haha
