I think if you want the guitar to carry the song, you should get a better tone from the guitar. The guitar seems really thin and while it can be partially alleviated by EQing, I think the base tone itself is lacking a bit. I would focus on fixing the guitar tone. It needs a bigger sounding distortion guitar IMO. Are you using a distortion/amp simulator? That's what I feel like I'm listening to.
 
There are some parts that the vocals sound lost in the mix (through my ipod headphones). I think the part where heavy guitars come in at first was one of those spots. It could be just through my headphones though.
