multi-track practise

In my opinion there's no better practise for mixing than to find multi-track recordings of old songs and mix them in your own way. The goal isn't to mimic the original, it is to give it your own feel and vibe as a mixer.

These are a couple of tracks I mixed and mastered - the first took roughly 40 to 50 minutes to mix (did it quickly before i fell asleep). The second took me around an hour and 50mins to mix as there were lots of issues with noise level and the arrangement of Bob Marley's vocal tracks. Two tracks that were supposed to be doubled, most of the double was off-beat, very time consuming lining the vocals up properly and then choosing which ones to keep. Mastering for both took around 45mins to an hour each, not gonna do reference listening in cars etc for this kind of practise. Done on seperate days.

*you may have to 'Save Target As...' to listen.

quick note

listen to the originals to see the difference. I think you'll notice a lot of change in both! Marley's track is very different in feeling now.
