Hello folks,
The above link takes you to jangleything (Possibly to be called Eyes Wired open) Now with added...banjo!
Sorry, I redid the tambourine as suggested and, having fiddled about with the banjo my wife gave me this month I was loaned a 6 string banjo by a friend. This was soo much easier to play as it's strung & tuned as a guitar - doesn't sound as flash as the bano the missus gave me but - easier at this stage. the string are heavy, heavy bronze jobbies. I plucked a few chords in various places to add a new texture to this piece - I hope to learn the G tuned 5 string banjo chords before too long - but this'll do as a guide.
Is the tambourine better?
Is the added occasional texture of banjo too much for such a simple piece?
Does the middle 8 work?

The banjo adds another good track to the mix. It's another interesting sound/melody. It sounds like a banjo but at the same time doesn't sound like a bluegrass tune. That's because you're plucking it not strumming it I suppose. Subtle but nicely effective, complimentary and at a good level. :):D:):D

Now that is an interesting sound with the banjo! Nice song style too, kind of alternative. Banjo fits absolutely. Are you gonna have vocals on this one?

The banjo sounds good. It definitely adds some variety.

You've posted an earlier version of this song, right? Do you have a link to that for comparison?

MORE stuff

Hello Folks,
I receieved a new mic I'd ordered and had to test it out so I hooked it up & recorded a gourd shaker track to offset the tambourine.

The mic is a MSH 4 micro tube jobbie. It has a really good strong signal and as I'd mainly used tube blend pres on this project the mic offered a different take on that direction. I like it.
This 2nd link is to the download page incase you want to listen to it a bit more closely:

Any ideas folks?

This is the first time I've been able to listen to this one.

Very different from a lot of your other stuff to my ear (happier, brighter sounding). I really like the banjo. While it might be a simple tune in terms of chord structure, there is certainly a lot going on. Shaker sounds nice but maybe bring it down a bit more in parts and back up at others for contrast?

I always enjoy your stuff.

Dude, I love how you can layer everything and keep building on witout it ever getting boring.

On to the questions you asked:

I think the banjo does add to the melody without overtaking it. It will be nice to see what you can do with a 5 string.

The tamborine is sitting nicely in the mix, almost gives you the sense of someone sitting there listening to a group jam, and decides to pick it up and join in.

Nice all around. I like your stuff.
